Aberdeen Portfolio Solutions Taps Jacobi for Model Portfolio Tech

Aberdeen Portfolio Solutions Limited has enlisted San Francisco-based Jacobi to overhaul its managed portfolio services, signaling a shift toward institutional-grade automation. By integrating Jacobi’s Model Portfolio Management System, the discretionary manager aims to industrialize its rebalancing workflows and bolster governance across its £3.4 billion in managed assets.

The partnership grants Aberdeen access to a private, customized version of Jacobi’s platform, allowing the firm to embed its proprietary models and analytical tools directly into the software. This transition is designed to replace manual processes with a more scalable architecture, enabling the team to handle complex portfolio construction and oversight with greater precision.

Mark Hopcroft, head of investment solutions at Aberdeen Adviser, noted that the move is central to their strategy of maintaining a robust and forward-looking service for financial advisers. For Jacobi, the deal underscores a growing trend among wealth managers seeking to apply institutional-level rigor to retail-facing portfolio services. As of early 2026, Aberdeen continues to expand its MPS range, which currently spans six distinct solutions ranging from index-based offerings to sustainable investment mandates.
