A&M-San Antonio Advances in National Social Mobility Rankings
Texas A&M University-San Antonio jumped nine spots to reach No. 31 in the U.S. News & World Report’s latest social mobility rankings. This climb highlights the institution's effectiveness in enrolling and graduating students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, a core component of its mission to expand access to higher education.
Beyond social mobility, the institution rose to No. 28 among Top Public Schools and maintained its position at No. 56 in the Regional Universities West category. President Salvador Hector Ochoa credited this progress to a student-centered approach, noting that the rankings validate the school’s efforts to strengthen the local community. The university is currently expanding its academic footprint, including the recent launch of a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and upcoming plans for a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences by 2027. Research activity is also accelerating, with grants more than doubling to $8 million in the 2026 fiscal year as the school pursues R2 status.
