The platform, which functions as a self-sovereign identity solution, enables businesses to assign decentralized identifiers to humans, smart devices, and AI agents. By utilizing W3C Verifiable Credentials, IDTrust allows organizations to define, manage, and revoke access permissions through an auditable process anchored on the Hedera network. According to The Hashgraph Group, the integration includes support for MCP servers that connect agents to IBM watsonx Orchestrate, creating a trail for authorized activities.

Beyond the catalog listing, the companies have entered into a global Embedded Solution Agreement, granting The Hashgraph Group rights to integrate IBM cloud and AI technologies into its commercial offerings. IBM currently recognizes the group as a Silver Partner, ISV, and managed service provider. This expansion arrives as industry demand for agent governance intensifies; Gartner projects that task-specific AI agents will feature in 40% of enterprise applications by late 2026, though analysts warn that insufficient governance models may force many companies to decommission these tools by 2027.
