Fresenius Medical Care Overhauls China Strategy to Focus on Innovation
Fresenius Medical Care is narrowing its commercial footprint in China, exiting the local peritoneal dialysis market and discontinuing its 4008A hemodialysis system. The company aims to prioritize high-end, locally relevant medical technologies to capture growth in a region that accounts for roughly 7% of its Care Enablement segment revenue.

To facilitate this transition, the company expects to incur one-time charges of approximately €110 million in the third quarter of 2026. These costs stem primarily from asset impairments and the termination of legacy production lines. Despite the restructuring, leadership maintains that the move will not significantly alter the long-term revenue outlook for its Chinese operations, as the company leans further into its local manufacturing and design capabilities.
