Goforth & Marti Faces Class Action Over Wage and Break Violations

A new class action lawsuit filed in Kern County Superior Court accuses Goforth & Marti of systemic labor violations, alleging the company systematically underpaid staff and denied mandatory rest periods. The complaint targets payroll practices that allegedly suppressed actual earnings through improper time-rounding and failure to provide legally mandated breaks.

Goforth & Marti Faces Class Action Over Wage and Break Violations

The legal action, brought by the Los Angeles-based firm Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP, outlines a series of failures regarding California Labor Code compliance. According to the complaint, Case No. 26CUB03152, the defendant allegedly ignored minimum wage and overtime requirements while failing to provide accurate itemized wage statements or reimbursement for work-related expenses.

The suit claims that employees were frequently denied rest periods, including mandatory ten-minute breaks during shifts lasting between two and ten hours. Beyond the absence of these breaks, the firm asserts that Goforth & Marti routinely paid employees based on rounded time increments rather than their actual recorded hours, resulting in lower total compensation. The filing cites multiple violations of state labor statutes, including California Labor Code sections 201-203, 510, and 2802, among others. Attorneys representing the plaintiffs are seeking civil penalties for these practices, which they argue deprived workers of both proper wages and legally protected off-duty time.
