Patriot Dynamic Systems Debuts Bolt-On Active Suspension for Heavy Trucks

Ponderay-based Patriot Dynamic Systems developed the technology to address the limitations of standard heavy-duty setups. Co-founder Jason Johnson spent nine years testing the system across 220,000 miles at the Purcell Trench Ranch proving ground in Idaho, reporting zero component failures. The hardware functions as a progressive-rate system under heavy loads to prevent squat and sway, while shifting to a linear rate for a smoother ride when the truck is empty.

The system utilizes a closed-loop pneumatic circuit and reads terrain at 1,000 Hz, offering automatic sway control and adjustable ride height ranging from stock to 16 inches. Each shock shaft features a Diamond-Like Carbon coating to minimize friction. Because the installation process takes between 20 and 24 hours, owners can remove the equipment for resale or transfer it to a new vehicle, returning the original truck to factory specifications.

Orders for Ford and Ram applications are currently open, with deliveries underway. General Motors compatibility is scheduled to follow in December 2026. While the base configuration relies on four-link passive shocks, users can upgrade to the active damping package, which the company claims is the industry's only triple-redundant truck suspension.
