The 65-217 allows users to build a matrix incrementally, starting with a 64x8 configuration and expanding up to 384x8 within a single 2U chassis. According to Steve Edwards, Head of Product Management, the system treats multiple plug-ins as a unified matrix rather than isolated elements, which simplifies path identification and programming. The architecture includes a dual Y-axis analog bus that enables the system to function as two independent matrices or connect multiple external instruments to specific sections.

Pickering Interfaces Launches Expandable 2A LXI Matrix Module
Engineers facing evolving test requirements can now scale system capacity using the 65-217, a modular 2A Ethernet-controlled LXI matrix from Pickering Interfaces. Designed for the 65-200 chassis, the plug-in unit supports complex RF crosstalk measurements while allowing for front-loaded maintenance that keeps test racks intact during service.

To manage long-term reliability, the modules feature relay cycle counting and integrated BIRST diagnostics. Users can identify worn components through optional external eBIRST tools, while onboard spare relays facilitate quick repairs. Capable of switching up to 300 VDC or 250 VAC at 2A, the hardware is intended for demanding aerospace and automotive environments where signal integrity and maintenance efficiency are critical.
