Lilly’s EBGLYSS shows rapid symptom relief in hand and foot dermatitis

The clinical trial revealed that more than half of participants treated with the IL-13 inhibitor achieved clear or almost clear skin on their hands and feet by the 16-week mark. Results also highlighted quick intervention, with significant skin clearance and itch reduction occurring as early as one month and two weeks, respectively. Beyond clinical markers, the study captured patient-reported outcomes, noting that nearly 80% of those using the medication felt satisfied with their level of hand clearance.

"For people with hand and foot atopic dermatitis, a relatively small area of affected skin can have an outsized impact on daily life," said Shawn G. Kwatra, M.D., chair of dermatology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The data showed that participants were three times more likely to experience meaningful pain relief compared to those on a placebo. Lilly has submitted these findings to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to support a potential label update for the drug, which is already approved for broader forms of moderate-to-severe eczema.
