The MRG-D5000 marks a technical milestone for the G-SHOCK flagship collection, as it is the first model to utilize a bezel and case crafted entirely from blue sapphire. Engineers developed the MR-G Multi-Guard Structure after analyzing force transmission patterns, allowing the watch to maintain its signature toughness without relying on screws that typically compromise sapphire components. Each piece features a serial number engraved on a screw-lock case back inset with additional sapphire, powered by a Gallium Tough Solar module for increased charging efficiency.

Casio Unveils Ultra-Limited Blue Sapphire MR-G Timepiece
With a global production run restricted to just 20 units, Casio is pushing the boundaries of horological durability by integrating blue sapphire crystal into a shock-resistant architecture. The new MRG-D5000 replaces traditional screw-based assembly with a proprietary multi-component system to prevent the fragile material from fracturing under impact.

Alongside this limited release, Casio is expanding its blue-themed series with two additional models. The MRG-B5000SA incorporates two-carat, facet-cut blue sapphire crystals at the case extremities, finished with a super-hard alloy bezel and blue arc ion plating. The GMW-B5000SB, a full-metal counterpart, features sapphire stones set at four points across the front of the bezel, further signaling the brand’s shift toward luxury material integration.
