The Illinois-based insurance giant Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has finalized the acquisition of Wexford-based Ornella Underwriting Limited. By absorbing the Irish managing general agent into its specialist subsidiary, Pen Underwriting, the global firm seeks to bolster its regional presence in personal and commercial insurance lines.

Patrick Gallagher, Jr., Chairman and CEO of the parent company, noted that the integration of the Irish firm provides both complementary expertise and immediate growth potential for their European portfolio.
