Dental Startup Wally Secures $25 Million to Scale Subscription Model

By ditching the traditional insurance-based billing model in favor of a $249 annual subscription, Wally is betting that consumers want transparency over complexity. The New York-based dental platform just closed a $25 million Series A funding round to expand its footprint from 15 to 100 locations by 2027.

Led by Maveron with participation from Bling Capital and Hims co-founder Jack Abraham, the fresh capital will fuel a geographic push into cities including Washington D.C., Atlanta, Austin, and Miami. Wally’s model centers on unlimited cleanings and AI-driven diagnostics, intentionally bypassing the private equity-driven insurance systems that CEO Tyler Burnett argues prioritize reimbursements over patient outcomes.

The company’s approach hinges on a proprietary technology stack that integrates Swiss Airflow cleaning tools and AI-powered clinical guidance. This infrastructure aims to lower the barrier to entry for the roughly 60% of American adults who currently skip annual dental visits due to cost or discomfort. With a 97% hygienist retention rate and 50,000 existing members, the firm is positioning itself as a consumer-first brand in an industry historically defined by high prices and bureaucratic friction.
