LG Energy Solution Inks Supply Deal with Elevra for Canadian Lithium

LG Energy Solution has finalized a multi-year agreement to procure 240,000 dry metric tonnes of spodumene concentrate from Elevra Lithium. The deal, which sources material from Elevra's operational North American Lithium project in Quebec, aims to bolster the battery manufacturer’s regional supply chain for energy storage systems.

Deliveries are scheduled to commence later this year, spanning a four-year term. By securing spodumene concentrate—a versatile feedstock that can be processed into either lithium carbonate or lithium hydroxide—the South Korean firm gains greater flexibility to pivot production between electric vehicle and energy storage system market requirements. This move arrives as LG Energy Solution expands its footprint in North America, supported by five facilities in the region, including the NextStar Energy plant in Windsor, Canada.

For Elevra Lithium, the contract provides a consistent revenue stream from its Quebec-based assets while allowing the miner to maintain exposure to market pricing. Lucas Dow, CEO of Elevra, noted that the partnership validates the company's FY26 commercial strategy and supports the ongoing expansion of the North American Lithium project. For LG Energy Solution, the arrangement serves as a strategic hedge against supply chain volatility, ensuring that its local manufacturing hubs have the raw materials necessary to meet the escalating demand for LFP-powered energy storage solutions.
