CME Group International Trading Volume Climbs 22% in Q3
Global market volatility pushed international trading at CME Group to 9 million contracts per day in the third quarter of 2026. This 22% year-over-year surge reflects a broader trend of investors seeking risk management tools amid persistent geopolitical uncertainty and rising inflationary pressures worldwide.

Julie Winkler, Chief Commercial Officer at CME Group, attributed the heightened activity to clients turning to the exchange to hedge against global instability. Energy, agricultural, and equity index products served as the primary drivers of this expansion. On a global scale, the marketplace reached an average daily volume of 29.4 million contracts, surpassing the previous record set in 2024.
