Lockheed Martin has officially debuted the PAC-3 Edge, a next-generation interceptor designed to counter hypersonic and advanced missile threats. The company plans to accelerate development, with initial testing scheduled for 2027 and a target deployment date set for 2031. This interceptor integrates a new seeker developed at the Strigo Product Center—a facility backed by a $250 million investment—alongside a multi-pulse solid rocket motor engineered by Northrop Grumman. These components aim to provide superior thrust and control, ensuring the Army maintains a robust, layered defense against evolving global threats.

Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, described the system as a leap in defensive architecture, emphasizing its ability to integrate with existing infrastructure like the Integrated Battle Command System and HIMARS Flex. By utilizing the combat-proven lineage of the PAC-3 MSE, the new interceptor serves as a critical upgrade to the military's current shield, designed to protect assets both domestically and abroad.
