The growth in automated volume follows the June release of Ripple’s AI Starter Kit, which provides developers with the tools to build applications capable of executing payments in XRP and the RLUSD stablecoin without human intervention. By utilizing the HTTP 402 Payment Required response, software agents can now settle micro-transactions for data feeds, API access, and computing power in seconds. Current data from the XRPL AI Hub indicates that 168 merchants are integrated into the ecosystem, with transaction counts continuing to climb.

XRP Ledger hits 13 million AI-driven payments
The XRP Ledger has surpassed 13 million automated transactions via the x402 protocol, signaling a shift toward machine-to-machine financial settlements. RippleX engineering head J. Ayo Akinyele confirmed the milestone, noting that AI-driven agent payments now account for approximately one-quarter of the network's total activity as adoption among merchants accelerates.
While the sheer volume of transactions has surged from roughly 1 million in July to over 13 million today, industry observers note that this figure represents activity rather than direct revenue. Cumulative settlements recorded at the time of the announcement totaled approximately 6,982 XRP and 12,010 RLUSD. Former Ripple product lead Chandler Fang suggests the next development phase will focus on onboarding more real-world commercial services. The infrastructure, facilitated by t54.ai, is designed to streamline payment flows by allowing AI agents to handle wallet management and transaction authorization within predefined safety limits.
