The victim realized his holdings were missing on the afternoon of October 9. While authorities confirmed that the assets were siphoned through a blockchain network, the specific method of intrusion—whether via phishing, compromised recovery keys, or malicious software—remains unknown. Perak police chief Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin stated that the investigation is now operating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which covers criminal cheating.

To assist with the technical recovery, Perak law enforcement has brought in investigators from the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department. This specialized unit is currently analyzing transaction records to trace the destination of the funds. Despite these efforts, no arrests have been made, and officials have yet to identify the type of wallet involved or the specific cryptocurrency stolen. In response to the high-profile loss, police have advised the public to secure private keys and recovery phrases, warning users against interacting with suspicious links that could grant attackers access to their digital accounts.
