Bristol Myers Squibb and Ehtiwaa Launch 'Small Wins' for Schizophrenia

To mark the 12th annual Global Patient Week, Bristol Myers Squibb and the Saudi Schizophrenia Association ‘Ehtiwaa’ have distributed over 70 personalized wellness kits in Riyadh, aiming to help patients living with schizophrenia build confidence through manageable, daily activities that celebrate incremental progress.

Bristol Myers Squibb and Ehtiwaa Launch 'Small Wins' for Schizophrenia

The 'Small Wins' initiative provides a structured framework for patients to navigate daily routines that can often feel overwhelming. Each kit contains activity cards with simple tasks—such as tidying a small space or spending time outdoors—and a 'Small Wins Jar' where participants record moments of joy. These tools are designed to complement professional psychosocial support by fostering a sense of personal achievement.

Employees at the Bristol Myers Squibb office in Riyadh personally assembled the kits, including handwritten notes of encouragement in each package. Mayada Al Ahmad, General Manager for BMS Saudi Arabia, emphasized that the initiative reflects a commitment to supporting patients beyond clinical treatments. Dr. Manal Sawan, Executive Director of Ehtiwaa, noted that the collaboration addresses the need for practical, everyday empowerment, helping to reduce the societal stigma often associated with mental health conditions in the region.
