The new capability functions within the company’s existing Token Control Ledger, shifting the industry standard away from retrospective reconciliation. Instead of verifying assets after a transaction is processed, the system confirms that backing exists before a token is created and validates its status—ensuring it remains genuine and outstanding—before the bank releases cash upon redemption. This process applies regardless of how many wallets or blockchain networks a token traverses.

Episode Six integrates real-time backing checks for tokenized deposits
Austin-based fintech firm Episode Six has introduced Verified Backing, a security layer designed for bank-issued stablecoins and tokenized deposits. The system executes automated, real-time validation checks at the exact moments of token issuance and redemption, ensuring that digital assets remain fully collateralized throughout their lifecycle within the bank's internal ledger.

Managing director of APAC Daryn Griggs noted that for risk and compliance teams, the critical challenge lies in verifying a token's authenticity at the point of redemption rather than just its origin. CEO and co-founder John Mitchell likened the upgrade to the transition from magnetic-stripe cards to EMV chip-and-PIN payments, moving from static records to active transaction-time authentication. The feature is available immediately to Episode Six’s global client base, which spans financial institutions and technology firms across more than 50 countries.
