Law enforcement officials confirmed the suspect was neutralized at the scene, potentially by a bystander. While Bend Police spokesperson Sheila Miller initially confirmed multiple casualties, reports from CNN citing law enforcement sources indicate that three children and one adult were killed during the incident. At least two additional victims were transported to St. Charles Bend medical facility for emergency treatment.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents have joined local police to secure the area, and authorities have established a reunification center at Journey Church for families. Bend-La Pine Schools Superintendent Steven Cook described the event as a senseless tragedy, noting that the district's immediate focus remains on supporting students, staff, and the families affected by the violence. Political leaders, including Sen. Jeff Merkley and Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, issued statements condemning the attack and calling for increased efforts to ensure school safety across the state.
