MEXC to Exit Russian and Belarusian Markets

Conflict lead: Cryptocurrency exchange MEXC is pulling its services from Russia and Belarus, signaling a shift in compliance strategy that leaves users in those regions facing forced account closures. While the platform cited global regulatory efforts, it stopped short of naming specific sanctions or government directives driving the sudden exit.

The exchange is opting for a staggered withdrawal rather than a blanket shutdown. Instead of a universal deadline, MEXC will send individual notifications to affected users, outlining specific timelines for closing trading positions and withdrawing assets. The company maintains that customer funds remain secure throughout this transition, though it has not disclosed the number of accounts impacted by the policy shift.

For now, the platform remains accessible to those who have not received a termination notice, provided they adhere to existing terms of service. This decision follows a series of incremental restrictions, including limitations on specific futures pairs imposed in May 2026. The current move mirrors actions taken by competitor Bitget, which recently updated its restricted-jurisdiction list to include Russia and Belarus. MEXC has directed users to its official channels for guidance, warning that its representatives will never solicit passwords or private keys via direct messages.
