To participate, users must link or establish a Kalshi account, completing mandatory identity verification processes that may involve government-issued IDs, Social Security numbers, or biometric checks. Once connected, the app provides a dedicated Predict tab where users can engage with markets spanning politics, economics, and sports. While Phantom facilitates the interface, it does not custody the assets; funds are deposited directly into Kalshi, and winning proceeds are returned to the user’s Phantom Cash account via Stripe integration.
This integration operates under a conditional no-action position granted by the CFTC in March, which permits Phantom to provide the interface without registering as an introducing broker. The arrangement relies on a custodial model where the exchange executes trades and determines outcomes. Despite the seamless appearance, the system maintains a clear separation between platforms: balances in Phantom do not merge with those in the standalone Kalshi app, and a single Kalshi account can link to only one Phantom wallet at a time.
