NYSE Owner ICE Partners With Trade.xyz to Launch Regulated Futures
Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, is entering the decentralized finance sector by partnering with Trade.xyz to develop a U.S.-regulated perpetual futures market. The venture seeks to integrate Hyperliquid’s high-volume infrastructure with formal oversight from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

The proposed platform aims to bridge the gap between continuous crypto-native trading and domestic regulatory standards. By incorporating mandatory identity verification and anti-money laundering controls, the initiative plans to offer contracts tied to stocks, commodities, and foreign exchange. While ICE has secured an equity stake in Trade.xyz, the financial terms and launch timeline remain undisclosed.
Trade.xyz reports that its existing offshore Hyperliquid markets have processed over $650 billion in volume since launching last year. The firm, which counts billionaire investor Stan Druckenmiller among its backers, intends to maintain its current HIP-3 operations independently while navigating the U.S. regulatory application process. This move follows similar industry efforts, including a proposal by the parent company of Kraken to utilize Hyperliquid infrastructure for regulated derivatives.
Following the announcement, the Hyperliquid native token, HYPE, saw a brief price uptick, reaching approximately $86. ICE chief executive Jeffrey Sprecher previously indicated interest in blockchain-based futures, noting that the firm had engaged in preliminary discussions with regulators and Hyperliquid representatives regarding the potential for institutional-grade, decentralized trading systems.
