Under the terms finalized in the High Court, the Panama-incorporated Huobi Global S.A. must refrain from communicating, or facilitating the communication of, financial promotions that breach the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. This prohibition spans a broad digital footprint, including platforms such as X, Telegram, TikTok, and Discord. While the settlement brings a formal end to the legal dispute, it contains no admission of liability or wrongdoing from the exchange.
The regulator confirmed that HTX has ceased accepting new UK registrations and deposits. Customers with remaining assets are currently being directed to specific withdrawal arrangements, though the FCA warned that these users lack access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Steve Smart, the FCA’s executive director of enforcement, emphasized that overseas incorporation does not shield firms from the reach of British law, noting that the exchange’s exit was prompted by the regulator's persistent legal pressure.
