Uber Gains Weekend Yield Through Blockchain Treasury Pilot
Uber secured an extra 1.5 days of corporate cash yield by executing a tokenized investment over the weekend, bypassing the constraints of traditional banking hours. The pilot, conducted alongside HSBC and Franklin Templeton, utilized the Canton network to settle a money market fund purchase on a Thursday and sale on Sunday.

HSBC’s Manish Kohli noted that the pilot confirms the technical readiness of their tokenized deposit service, which is already operational across major global financial hubs including Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States. Following this trial, the bank intends to expand access to a broader range of U.S. corporate clients. Fireblocks CEO Michael Shaulov projects that this model will see widespread adoption, predicting that hundreds of corporations will transition to similar blockchain-based treasury workflows within the next 18 months.
