Alfa Laval has agreed to acquire Norwegian maritime software company NAVTOR AS for $700 million (6.85 billion Swedish kronor), adding e-navigation and vessel-performance tools to its digital fleet portfolio. NAVTOR will join Alfa Laval’s Ocean Division, and its platform will be consolidated with the company’s StormGeo and PortChain platforms. Alfa Laval said the combination would expand its offerings in onboard software, vessel performance and route optimization. The deal is expected to be neutral to group margins in the short term and will be financed with a combination of cash on hand and existing funding programs.
NAVTOR, founded in 2011 and headquartered in Norway, employs 400 people across 13 offices and serves customers in more than 90 countries. Its estimated 2026 turnover is approximately $194 million (1.89 billion Swedish kronor). Alfa Laval President and CEO Tom Erixon said NAVTOR’s technology and presence would complement the company’s maritime digital platform as real-time decision-making becomes more complex.
NAVTOR identified and reported compliance matters after a recent internal review, prompting an enhanced internal control and compliance program. Alfa Laval said transaction cover protecting it against these pre-acquisition liabilities has been deferred. Erixon called the compliance program a step toward meeting Alfa Laval’s standards and said the company had confidence the issues would be resolved.
Alfa Laval plans to provide further information on the deal’s strategic rationale at its Capital Markets Day on 18 November 2026. The company announced the agreement on 6 November 2026.
