Atlanta City Council Approves Major Sylvan Road Redevelopment
The Atlanta City Council has officially greenlit the Sylvan Road Redevelopment, a 14-acre project designed to reshape Southwest Atlanta. The initiative promises over 3,000 residential units and significant public amenities, marking a major step in the city's effort to expand housing access along the Atlanta BeltLine corridor.
"This approval represents a defining milestone in touching people's lives in Southwest Atlanta," Afik said, noting that the project aims to turn a long-underutilized site into a dense, mixed-use hub. The developer, which currently controls 45 acres of land in the area, worked closely with neighborhood associations including Capitol View, Sylvan Hills, and Perkerson Park to tailor the design to local needs. With the rezoning now in place, the group moves toward the implementation phase of a project intended to provide lasting economic and social value for the surrounding communities.
