JSBC Bridges Civilizations with New Chinese Wisdom Book Series

Two legendary thinkers return to the stage as Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation debuts its 'Chinese Wisdom' book series, pairing the philosophical clash of Socrates and Confucius with a deep dive into the evolution of Chinese architecture to bridge cultural divides through the enduring permanence of the printed page.

The first title, Incredible Encounter: When Socrates Met Confucius, translates the acclaimed documentary series into a dual-narrative format. Leveraging AIGC and 3D reconstruction, the work revives the two figures for a debate on ethics and government. The narrative traces their historical paths from the Acropolis to the Confucius Temple in Qufu, grounding abstract philosophical inquiries in the physical reality of their respective homelands. This project, which previously earned a Gold Telly Award, aims to demonstrate that the questions posed during the Axial Age remain relevant to modern global discourse.

Complementing this philosophical exploration is Eastern Wisdom: A Travelogue of Chinese Architecture. Guided by American scholar Andrew Field, the book expands upon the documentary Architectural China S1 to examine the structural identity of the region. Readers are taken from the modest white-walled architecture of Jiangnan water towns to the rigid, grand layouts of northern palaces. Beyond the visual scope of the original film, the volume includes extensive historical manuscripts, sketches, and a knowledge map designed to provide context for the craftsmanship and spatial values inherent in Chinese building traditions.
