Dr. Mark D. Smith joins SafeinHome Board of Directors

CEO Ken Traverso noted that Dr. Smith’s background in scaling healthcare organizations and his command of complex regulatory environments, particularly within the California Medi-Cal system, will prove vital as the company grows its person-centered support models. Dr. Smith currently serves as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and holds board positions at Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Teladoc Health, and Phreesia.

Reflecting on the appointment, Dr. Smith highlighted the company’s integration of assistive technology and human-led support as a transformative approach to independent living. A member of the National Academy of Medicine since 2001, he previously led the California Health Care Foundation. His transition to the SafeinHome board signals a strategic push to refine how technology-enabled care is delivered to vulnerable populations across the country.
