PURIS Expands Infrastructure Reach With Amici Engineering Acquisition

Florida-based utility contractor Amici Engineering has been acquired by PURIS, a Texas-headquartered infrastructure firm backed by J.F. Lehman & Company. The deal integrates Amici’s specialized pipeline construction and horizontal directional drilling services into the PURIS platform, marking another step in the company's strategy to consolidate regional water infrastructure expertise.

PURIS Expands Infrastructure Reach With Amici Engineering Acquisition

Founded in 2019, Amici operates out of Zephyrhills and Miami, maintaining a focus on complex underground utility projects including the repair of potable water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. The acquisition allows PURIS to leverage these engineering-led capabilities alongside its existing trenchless pipe rehabilitation technologies. According to PURIS CEO Mick Fegan, the move is designed to broaden the company's service offerings and strengthen its footprint in the Florida market.

Amici co-founders Juan Barreneche, Nelson Liberti, and Christopher Lazzari will integrate their operations into the PURIS portfolio, citing the parent company's national reach as a catalyst for future expansion. Kevin Vallès, Managing Director at JFLCO, noted that the self-perform capabilities provided by the Florida team align with the firm's broader objective of building a diversified water infrastructure platform. Legal counsel for the transaction was provided by A&O Shearman for the buyers and Akerman LLP for Amici.
