America250 Reopens National Startup Competition for Collegiate Founders

Undergraduate innovators across the United States have until October 8 to enter the America's Startup competition, a federal initiative offering a $1 million prize pool. The program, which coincides with the nation’s 250th anniversary, provides non-dilutive grants and mentorship to student-led ventures emerging from colleges and trade schools.

America250 Reopens National Startup Competition for Collegiate Founders

Following a successful pilot earlier this year, the nonpartisan organization America250 is scaling its search for the next generation of business leaders. The competition invites students to submit proposals individually or in teams of up to five, targeting early-stage concepts that demonstrate market potential and innovative thinking. Successful applicants gain access to an ecosystem featuring industry heavyweights, including Steve Wozniak, Sarah Friar, and Tim Draper, who serve on the initiative's Investors Council.

The program structure emphasizes long-term growth over immediate equity surrender. Thirty semifinalist teams will be invited to Washington, D.C., in mid-December for a live pitch event. From this group, 10 finalists will receive $25,000 in non-dilutive funding, with three grand prize winners securing a total of $50,000 each. Beyond the cash awards, the top 100 entries gain visibility through the Investors Council and potential access to the NVIDIA Inception program, providing a rare national platform for students operating outside traditional tech hubs.
