A record-breaking 10 million access points were shipped in the second quarter of 2026, marking a significant surge in global demand. Wi-Fi 7 Shipments Dominate Market as Dell'Oro Reports Record Q2 Growth

Enterprises are currently navigating a volatile supply chain as they prioritize infrastructure upgrades. According to Siân Morgan, Senior Director at Dell'Oro Group, the market is bracing for higher average selling prices throughout the remainder of the year. This upward pressure on costs stems largely from the intensifying demand for memory components, which are being heavily diverted toward AI infrastructure development.

While Wi-Fi 7 has solidified its position as the industry standard, the horizon already shows signs of the next transition. Revenue contributions from Wi-Fi 8 technology are expected to materialize as early as next year, though the adoption curve for Wi-Fi 7 is projected to maintain its momentum through 2028. The second quarter also saw a notable shift in technical preferences, with vendors shipping a record number of units equipped with multi-gig and 10 Gbps interfaces. Europe led the charge in this global expansion, reporting the strongest double-digit growth across all monitored regions, while outdoor access point revenue continued to consistently outperform the broader market.
