The new unit targets four primary verticals: commerce, manufacturing, mobility, and aerospace and defense. By establishing a dedicated practice, Mission North aims to bridge the gap between digital-native startups and industrial incumbents struggling to explain their hardware-heavy innovations to investors and the public. Executive Vice President Melinda Ball and Vice President Eric Stephens will spearhead the initiative under the guidance of co-CEO Bill Bourdon.

Mission North Debuts Physical Industries Practice for AI Hardware
As artificial intelligence migrates from server farms into factories, warehouses, and city streets, communications firm Mission North is formalizing its focus on the sector. The agency today launched its Physical Industries practice, dedicated to helping companies navigate the complex narratives surrounding robotics, automation, and industrial software.

Mission North brings a decade of experience to the effort, having previously managed communications for companies like Apptronik, Axon, and Instacart. According to Burke Norton of Smith Point Capital, the challenge lies in the shift from pure software to load-bearing systems, where credibility is often harder to manufacture than code. The firm intends to help clients move beyond technical specifications to articulate the broader societal impact of their machines, whether those machines are assembling smartphones or managing urban logistics.
