Finnish forestry giant Metsä Group is consolidating its global IT operations under a multi-year agreement with Infosys, shifting toward an AI-ready model. The partnership aims to streamline management of cloud, workplace, and mill-site services by embedding generative AI directly into the company’s core technical infrastructure.

The transformation centers on the deployment of Infosys Topaz Fabric, a suite of agentic services designed to automate complex IT tasks and accelerate issue resolution. By integrating this platform, Metsä Group expects to move away from fragmented IT sourcing toward a unified, efficient operating environment capable of scaling alongside its global production needs.

Kristiina Lammila, Chief Information Officer at Metsä Group, noted that the deal represents a strategic pivot to meet current business efficiency demands. For Infosys, the contract serves as a significant expansion of its manufacturing footprint in Europe. Ruchir Budhwar, EVP and Industry Head for Manufacturing in Europe, stated that the initiative addresses rising cost pressures and operational complexity by leveraging deep domain expertise alongside the company's AI-native tools.
